Beautiful Bangkok

There is so much that can be said about Bangkok as a wonderful travel destination. The city also goes by the name of Krung Thep, which translates to 'City of Angles', a perfect title for this exotic, attention-grabbing city in Thailand. It is a perfect blend of the traditional versus contemporary. The city is buzzing with activity both day and night that for many can be overwhelming but exhilarating at the same time.

As the capital of Thailand and one of the top tourist destinations in the world, Bangkok offers some of the most beautiful sites that can be found anywhere including a large number of amazing Buddhist temples as well as historical sites. The canals of the Chao Phraya River run throughout this busy metropolis. It is full of long-tailed boats, river taxis, and sightseeing cruise boats. Bangkok boasts some of the more luxurious hotels in the world. It is also a mecca for shopping with dozens of markets and bazaars including unusual floating markets.

Though many find the heat and humidity it bit stifling, the benefits can be seen throughout Bangkok. Beautiful orchids, bougainvillea, frangipani and other tropical plants thrive here as well as a variety of tasty fruits. The plant life as well as robed monks, neon signs, elegant Thai architecture, and spicy food are just some of the things that make it the prototypical Asian city.

It is hard to narrow down all of the attractions that Bangkok offers to one small list. One must see is the Royal Grand Palace. The Grand Palace is a vast complex of intricately designed buildings that include the Palace Temple and the Royal Chapel. The Palace is surrounded by a moat and is located in the center of old town.

Another beautiful palace is the Chitralada Palace built around the same time as the Royal Grand Palace. It is adorned with fountains at both ends of the park on which the palace sits that are designed with mythological figures from the Late Baroque period.

Temples such as the Lingam Shrine, Sri Mahamariamman Temple, and Temple of the Emerald Buddha are just a few of the religious sites that can be found in the city. There are also world-class museums like the National Gallery Bangkok and the National Museum Bangkok.
